(If I'm wrong on this, I hold my hands up and apologize)I'm not saying stuff like this didn't happen in America or elsewhere, but I remember when I watched this film that this whole scene seemed 50 - 100 years out of place. (I don't think a single white family could have even supported that many black workers on a plantation in Depression era America, but I may be wrong on that. Crucially there not slaves by this point, so the plantation owners would need to pay for manual labour)I've got no problem with drama about civil rights, but when your release a film that is evidently trying to draw attention to social injustice, and then have a completely fictitious (and historically inaccurate) opening scene that is suppose to serve as the main characters motivation and driving point, it kind of weakens the whole argument the film is trying to make in the first place. (There would have been plenty of social injustices is 1920's America this film could have depicted as its opening scene that actually happened)

I think the reason why most of these people are horrible to work for is because they are narcissists. Being a narcissist is often a large part of the reason they are in show business. Narcs seek continual attention and the limelight. They are often in high profile careers.
